I am pretty excited to check this out:

Savor rum cocktails and desserts at Old New Orleans Rum distillery

What do cupcakes and rum have in common? They both can be traced back to fields of sugar cane. On Saturday, July 16, Old New Orleans Rum weighs whether sugar is better baked or distilled at the Summer Rumble.

Sample rum-flavored desserts from NOLA Rum Balls, Bee Sweet Cupcakes and New Orleans Ice Cream Company. Sip seven Old New Orleans Rum drinks from area restaurants and bars, including the Bombay Club, the Phoenix Bar and the Monteleone Hotel. The crowd’s favorite cocktail will be featured on WGNO-TV’s “News with a Twist.”

If you prefer drinks that began as grain, NOLA Brewing Company will also provide beer.

The Summer Rumble starts at 8 p.m. and takes place at Celebration Distillation (2815 Frenchmen St.). Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, with proceeds benefitting the Metropolitan Bicycle Coalition and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Visit onorsummerrum.eventbrite.com for tickets.

I have wanted to try this place and finally it was worth the wait. Very quaint, cool, clean, atmosphere. Food and drinks were excellent. If you’re looking for a place to hang, eat, drink, music, and relax this is it!

The vast wine cellar at Oak, in New Orleans, houses an impressive selection of varietals. Our wine list – grouped by palate rather than region – offers dozens of wines by the glass and nearly a hundred hand-selected bottles. Or choose from our signature cocktail menu and let our bartenders serve up something unforgettable. Of course a robust beer list is also available at Oak.

Indulge in irresistible small plates created specially for Oak by acclaimed chef Aaron Burgau of Patois. Inspired by international flavors then refined for a New Orleans palate, our food is sophisticated without being fussy. Let the Oak staff pair a glass of wine or cocktail with any of your food choices. The full menu is available until after midnight.

An intimate setting for local talent, Oak proudly hosts a variety of live music. Jazz, acoustic folk, or even R&B, our stage is the perfect setting to take in the soul of New Orleans music. Here, the atmosphere is always cosmopolitan but never pretentious.

Relax and let Oak host your next event. Private catering available for parties of almost any size or occasion. We offer flexible menu and service options.
